Clinician FAQs
Quick answers to what matters most when finding support or joining our network.
Can Therapy Coalition help with taxes, superannuation and business expenses?
As all clinicians on Therapy Coalition are sole traders - and therefore, are their own individual businesses - we can't support you with deducting taxes or superannuation, or reimbursing business expenses.
Why would therapists choose Therapy Coalition over going completely independent?
With Therapy Coalition, you have all the freedoms of going completely independent, without the headache and hassle of having to do the behind the scenes admin and finance work. Many small businesses do over 11 hours per week of non-billable work - which for clinicians includes things like sending out service agreements, dealing with funding issues, and reconciling invoices. That's 11 hours of billable time you're missing out on, just by doing paperwork! When you still keep the large majority of what you earn - and still dictate the how, when and where of your work - you get the best of both worlds when you work through Therapy Coalition.
Does Therapy Coalition provide referrals to me?
Whilst occasionally referrals do come through to us independently of any clinician, it's not our focus and we don't procure referrals on the behalf of clinicians. Our focus is on supporting clinicians to grow their own networks, and establish connections in their sector to generate their own referral pathways in their community. We support you with putting together the marketing collateral and systems that you need, so that you're ready to see your first client within a matter of days from signing up.
Am I a contractor or an employee?
Neither - Therapy Coalition does not employ clinicians; nor do we engage clinicians to carry out client work on our behalf. With Therapy Coalition, you run your own business, as a self-employed sole trader. Therapy Coalition supports you in the setting up and day-to-day tasks for your business, by providing the support and systems to help you be as efficient as possible. Think of us in the same way you'd think of hiring a graphic designer to create your brochures, or a virtual admin assistant to help with intake.
Are there any specific qualifications or criteria I need to meet to join Therapy Coalition?
Yes. At Therapy Coalition, we only take on clinicians who have at least 1-2 years of clinical experience working in their field - and for NDIS Positive Behaviour Support practitioners, you'll need to be endorsed at Proficient level or above. Unfortunately, we are unable to support Social Workers, Counsellors, Psychologists, NLP Practitioners, or Support Workers.
