Mariaan Cloete is a dedicated Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner with a genuine passion for empowering individuals to live meaningful, fulfilling lives. With over five years of experience in the NDIS sector, she brings a warm, person-centred approach to every individual and family she works with, always taking the time to truly listen, understand, and collaborate with each participant.

Originally from South Africa and dual-qualified across two countries, Mariaan brings a rich, culturally informed perspective to her practice. She has developed and implemented Behaviour Support Plans for individuals with complex and diverse needs, mentored therapy staff, and worked closely with families, support workers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent, compassionate care. At the heart of everything Mariaan does is a firm belief that every person deserves to be seen, valued, and supported to thrive.

- Behaviour Support Plan Development - Mariaan can create personalised, practical Behaviour Support Plans that are tailored to each participant's unique needs, goals, and circumstances.

- Family & Caregiver Training - Mariaan works alongside families, support workers, and care teams to build confidence and consistency in implementing strategies across all areas of a participant's life. This includes supporting individuals living in SIL and SDA settings, those with mental health needs, and participants navigating neurological recovery such as stroke rehabilitation.

- Capacity Building - Mariaan supports therapy staff and support workers to grow their skills in positive behaviour support, fostering a team approach to care.

Practice Focus Areas

Mariaan provides services across the lifespan, supporting participants from 3 years of age through to 65 and beyond. She is experienced in working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities and, as a bilingual South African, communicates fluently in both English and Afrikaans. This lived experience gives her a genuine understanding of the barriers CALD participants may face, and what it takes to feel truly safe and supported in services. Her clinical experience spans a wide range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, PDA, Down Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), mental health conditions, neurological conditions, and Dementia-specific support.
